3 Customer Review(s)I have garneau shoes size 42 but chose to order a large shoe cover despite what they said in the sizing charts. It was a good idea 'cause even with this size, my shoes are just the size of the rubber sole. In general the product is nice, it does a sweet job under rain but the "sealed" zipper is the cheapest I have ever seen. It's sad 'cause if the sizing was accurate and the zipper was better, it would have been a great product. A little desapointed after buying this "as a gift to myself", cause with just a little bit more effort put in the details, garneau could have produced a perfect product for the same price (more or less).
Quality Price ValueJust used these for 10 days on the Oregon coast, rained every day but one.
Negatives: sizing chart is wrong at least for touring shoes, cost me $20 and 2 weeks on the exchange, the recommended size was way too small, one size up is appropriately tight, the uppers are not waterproof, they leak through the vent zipper within a half hour of riding in the rain, the sole is not quite wide enough for touring shoes so when I walked on them, not that much, the neoprene was worn through on the side right next to the sole in a couple spots near the heel.
Positives: even though my feet were wet in prolonged rain the "flow through" was slow so they had a wet suit like effect and my feet weren't cold, the bright green color has good visibility in rain, pretty easy to put on and have a quality back zipper. Cleat cutout template on the bottom was very accurate.
I got these to replace a pair of neoprene booties I got from Performance 20 years ago that the zipper finally broke on after several weeks per year of using them on bad weather tours, Performance doesn't make theirs anymore, they were warmer and drier than these. I've tried many other options and these seem to be the best option currently available for riding in prolonged rain. I doubt if they would be warm enough for a long wet ride below 40F. If you don't do that, these should be fine.
Quality Price ValueThese shoe covers have rubber soles, which means you will be able to actually walk in them more than once or twice without wearing them out. However, like pretty much every other manufacturer, Garneau can't get the size right. My cycling shoes are 47, street shoes 11.5. In spite of the sizing chart these will not fit anything bigger than 45 or 46 without stretching them so much that they are bound to fail from the stress on the zipper. I can barely get them over my 47 shoes, and haven't decided whether or not to keep them. If they were a half inch longer I would give them all 5's. (for my 47s, they would still be way too small for size 50, in spite of their size chart)
From Seattle where we wear shoe covers a whole lot.
